A barcode itself can only reliably hold a short code — not a product name, price, or paragraph of contact info (that much data makes the bars too dense to scan). The standard retail approach: the barcode holds a short ID, and scanning software looks that ID up in a product database to show the full details. That's exactly what the Scan & look up tab does.
Most store barcode scanners (wired or Bluetooth) act like a keyboard — they "type" the code into whatever field is focused, then press Enter automatically. Just click the box above and scan; no camera or app needed. This is how checkout counters actually work.
